André Bissonnette was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, USA. He currently attends the University of Puget Sound as a Composition Major and expects to graduate in spring of 2010. He started studying piano at the age of six and violin at ten, and he has also been composing music since he was very young.
He composed works played by select members of the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall in 2003 and 2004. He has composed music for numerous musicians and groups, his pieces covering a variety of styles. In the future, he plans to be a freelance composer, making his living on private commissions and composing scores for video games.
André honored us by composing the “Wily Writers Theme Song,” the catchy tune you hear when you listen to an audio story here on the site.

As editor for Wily Writers this month, I chose the theme of Warriors, those compelling and complex characters in traditional myth and history. Unlike the heroes of folktales who are often thrust alone or by accident into their roles, the warrior chooses his path, hardening his or her body against an anvil of arduous training. And while the success of this endeavor depends on the fortitude of the individual, the warrior rarely trains alone but in the company of comrades.
