Charlie Bookout lives with his wife (a lovely elementary school teacher) and son (a seven-year-old Godzilla specialist) in Gentry, Arkansas—a creepy little town that’s a stone’s throw from the hillbilly infested Ozark Mountains.
Charlie belongs to a group of rural artists who’ve converted Gentry’s old mortuary into a studio devoted to independent music and film. Every Halloween, the guys there use spray paint, black plastic sheeting, and faulty electrical wiring to create the world’s greatest haunted house. Learn more at www.mortuarystudios.com.
He has also created a virtual art gallery that showcases the work of amateur artists who live in Gentry and the surrounding communities. It’s called Back Road Art Gallery, and you can visit it at www.facebook.com/BackRoadArtGallery.
Charlie began writing short stories in 2011. His work has been featured on the podcast Pseudopod, and in Shimmer Magazine.
